Director — Loan Sales & Trading

The Director
– -Loan Sales & Trading leads the three principal lines of business in this division; Syndications, Loan Sales & Distress, and Loan Servicing.

They will lead the Syndication group in pitching, structuring, and executing lead-agented bank market transactions.

They will work with leadership across Capital Markets to ensure the attainment of growth, productivity, and profitability goals and contribute to goals by providing credit and marketing support to Origination Brokers and managing ongoing lead lender activities.

They will ensure Capital Markets’ ability to maintain existing and to expand future syndicated credit opportunities.

What are the opportunities you’ll tackle?

Provides syndication origination, syndicate, and distribution support for senior debt financings.

Advises Origination teams on appropriate capital structure execution strategies and mobilizes the necessary resources against those client opportunities.
Provides support for the execution of related business transactions including coordinating client and syndication group resources to effectively manage investor relationships and to ensure sufficient capital is raised.

Establishes and cultivates bank and institutional relationships across the Financial Services sector and works closely with Origination partners to help pitch those opportunities leveraging syndication team resources and other parties.
Maintains and develops relationships with other financial institutions to participate in transactions with on both the buy and sell side.

Understand the typical hold limits, areas of industry focus and general credit appetite of these institutions.
Collaborates with senior leadership to develop a business case for new commercial solutions, products, and services, and presents it to leadership to obtain needed support, financing, and resources.

Identifies market opportunities that are consistent with the strategy of the business and takes appropriate action to capitalize on those opportunities.
Develops the best portfolio of solutions, products, and services to counter competitor strategies and respond to community needs.

Partners with Credit Risk Management teams to ensure the appropriate level of risk assessments are performed on all potential commercial business activities, and all identified risks are mitigated in accordance with standard operating procedures.
Leads the process for centralized syndication group policies to ensure a highly disciplined and successful syndication product roll-out.

Responsible for preparation/negotiation of market clearing provisions in legal documents.

Coordination and review of third-party due diligence materials.
Ensures organization strictly adheres to internal control policies such as the account opening protocols of accurate collection, completion and updating of all required documentation.

Ensures the organization’s activities are carried out in accordance with all regulatory, legal, and governmental regulations.
Manages the Loan Servicing platform ensuring a high-quality experience for Borrowers and Participant Lenders.

Including Paying & Receiving of payments, Construction Loan Management, Annual Site Inspections, as required according to prudent portfolio management practices.

Ensure a profitable, recurring income stream from these activities.
Manages Distressed and Whole Loan/Loan Pool Sales & Trading ensuring deep sourcing and buyer networks.
Manages the quarterly conversation and annual performance management and merit processes for direct and indirect reports.

Coaches and develops team members and builds a work environment where team members are engaged and feel a positive sense of achievement about their role in the company.

Works closely with People Operations – Employee Experience team with regards to employee relations, compensation, training, posting, and filling vacant positions and other employee related matters.
Each team member is expected to be aware of risk within their functional area.

This includes observing all policies, procedures, laws, regulations, and risk limits specific to their role.

Additionally, they should raise, and report known or suspected violations to the appropriate Company authority in a timely fashion.

This opportunity is for you if you have/are:
A bachelor’s degree in finance, business, accounting, or a related field.

MBA preferred
8+ years of related experience
A combination of education and experience may meet job requirements
Demonstrated track record of high academic achievement
Direct experience (5+ years) in commercial banking, investment banking, leveraged finance or other debt capital markets-oriented role
Some supervisory or management experience required
A combination of education and experience may meet requirements
Requires considerable working knowledge of complex credit structures, relevant capital markets, credit analysis, administration policies, procedures and techniques
Advanced analytical and reasoning skills
Ability to work effectively with all levels of staff
Advanced knowledge in the assigned Commercial Real Estate lending
Strong evaluation, problem resolution and communication skills, both written and verbal
Demonstrated management skills
Strong interpersonal and communication skills, both verbal and written
Strong decision making, problem resolution and strong analytical skill required
