Senior Engineer – Railroad Fueling

Role description:

Arcadis is seeking a Senior Project Engineer, with railroad fueling and facilities experience, to join our Industrial Infrastructure team in Chicago, IL; Atlanta, GA; Chattanooga, TN; or Jacksonville, FL.

This position will support all seven Class I freight railroads in North America.

Arcadis is a leader in railroad fueling and facilities engineering.

In this role, you will utilize your experience and expertise to successfully lead the design and implementation of fueling and facilities engineering projects for our Rail clients throughout North America. 

Role accountabilities:

  • Oversee the development of railroad fueling & facilities projects, including fuel and oil storage facilities, fuel and oil distribution systems, fuel and oil load/unload facilities, and car & diesel shops
  • Researching feasibility of alternative design approaches, site conditions, and regulatory agency specifications
  • Leading and managing the planning, design, and construction administration of projects to ensure compliance with contracts, drawings, specifications, codes, statutes, rules, and regulations, as well as Arcadis quality and safety practices.
  • Leading and communicating with project teams, establishing goals and objectives, and scheduling and coordinating resources to deliver projects on time, within budget, and to the performance expectations of the client.
  • Developing plans, specifications, requests for proposals, and other contract documents 
  • Working effectively and collaboratively in team situations and establishing strong relationships with other teams where overlap of client project work exists
  • Mentoring junior level staff in design and client management
  • Traveling, sometimes on an extended basis, as needed

Qualifications & Experience:

Required Qualifications: 

  • Bachelor of Science degree in Civil Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, or a related field of study
  • 10 years of applicable experience

Preferred Qualifications: 

  • 15 years of applicable experience
  • Professional Engineer license
