Senior Auditor

Summary of Responsibilities:

In fulfilling the Firm’s mission, the A&A Senior Accountant acts as the fieldwork in-charge on accounting and auditing engagements, and is responsible for the day-to-day conduct of the work.

Depending on the size of the engagement, a A&A Senior Accountant may assume “Supervisor level” responsibilities.

The A&A Senior Accountant is licensed.

The A&A Senior Accountant supports the Firm’s goals and values through all professional communications and the maintenance of positive working relationships.

Essential Functions:
Develops a relationship with engagement-related client personnel responsible for tax issues.
Maintains contact with client personnel throughout the year; possesses a knowledge of the client and the client’s business, especially as related to accounting and auditing matters.
Collaborates on decisions on routine A&A matters, with a TBS team member or A&A Manager, Director and/or or Partner.
Makes decisions on routine engagement matters.
Coordinates and leads engagement planning process (under supervision of Supervisor, Manager, or Director), including scheduling of planning meeting and fieldwork, discussions with appropriate client and TJS Deemer Dana personnel to understand client’s current business activity, design of test work procedures, review of minutes, audit program preparation, review of business agreements, etc.
Performs more difficult or complex procedures, such as the evaluation of accounting reserves, inventory valuation and obsolescence, deferred income taxes, revenue recognition, complex income tax accruals, etc.
Supervises and reviews work of Staff Accountants.

Brings unusual or significant accounting/auditing questions to the attention of the supervisor.
Researches and proposes resolution to technical accounting and auditing matters.
Wraps up engagement according to engagement timetable and alerts supervisor of scheduling concerns.
Communicates with appropriate individuals within the firm, and documents the status of A&A engagements.

Keeps Director, Manager or Supervisor informed of all important developments on engagement.
Assists in presenting financial statements and management letters to clients at wrap-up meetings.
Monitors engagement budget and alerts supervisor of potential concerns and suggests fee modification actions.
Demonstrates effective project management skills, inspires teamwork and responsibility with engagement team members, and uses current technology and tools to enhance the effectiveness of deliverables and service.
Achieves an acceptable level of budget realization on services performed and supervised.
Controls all aspects of client relationship (if no manager is assigned to the engagement) related to budgets, client expectations, and billing.

Other Functions:
Assigns work to staff based on their knowledge and capabilities.
Provides supervision and on the job training to staff assigned to engagements.
Supports training of team members, offers guidance and direction, and provides constructive criticism.
Assists with the development of training programs and acts as instructor in professional development programs.
Mentors and develops the technical and professional skills of A&A staff.
Supervises and reviews work of A&A In Charge Accountants, A&A Staff Accountants and A&A Interns.
Develops personal priority goals and adheres to the goals.
Participates in community involvement.
Has developed sales, writing, communication, interpersonal and other human relation skills.
Has developed an understanding of the economics of the A&A business and its relation to the firm.
Supports departmental goals, policies and guidelines and makes suggestions for improvement.
Assumes responsibilities as a “champion” in specific departmental software applications or projects.
Participates in other administrative activities or other duties as requested by the Partners, Directors and/or Managers.

Bachelor’s degree and/or Master’s degree in Accounting
Licensed CPA
3+ years of public accounting
