(Harris-GS) is seeking to fill the position of Payroll Specialist located in Atlanta, Georgia.

This is a short-term position in the role of Contractor/Consultant and requires strong analytical skills and the ability to manage concurrent assignments and meet deadlines.

This could move into a long-term opportunity.

Individual with extensive knowledge of IRS payroll and tax reporting laws, policies, and regulations, preferably with knowledge of tax scholarship awards, ensuring compliance with applicable IRS requirements.

Individual should be knowledgeable in program policies pertaining to tax withholdings and reporting and able to communicate verbally and in written communication with others.

Responsibilities and Duties

Providing payroll tax withholding calculations including Federal Income Tax, Employee FICA and Employer FICA for all components (i.e.

stipend, tuition, and other reasonable costs).
Ability to process payment frequency (i.e., Tuition payments) and calculate allowance amounts and withholding rates (i.e., bi-weekly, monthly, quarterly, semiannual, etc.).
Knowledge in processing W4’s in multiple settings.
Ability to process and calculate payroll taxes and deductions based a variety of factors.
Ability to provide guidance on applying updated tax calculations.
Ability to provide written summaries of guidance including identification of public IRS references supporting the guidance as provided.
Ability to produce written presentations with appropriate talking points regarding changes to the tax withholdings and communicate in small to large settings.
Strong communication skills, oral and written, and ability to multitask
Encourage teamwork and positive morale
Ability to relate and work well in one on one settings, small and large groups
Ability to view business from detail and strategic levels
Ability to interface and present ideas to senior level management
Ability to analyze data using Microsoft Word, PowerPoint, Excel, and various payroll software.
Qualifications and Skills

BS/BBA in Accounting required
Strong knowledge of payroll processing from start to finish
Minimum of 5 years of progressive payroll/accounting experience
Public Accounting, or CPA a plus
Intermediate experience with Excel (v-lookups, pivot tables, etc.)
Experience with payroll software and payroll providers (I.e., ADP and etc., ) a plus
Excellent verbal and written communication skills
