This is a Full-time position in Atlanta, GA posted November 10, 2021.

CHARACTERISTICS OF WORK:

Under general direction, this is a professional position responsible for general accounting and patient business services, including third-party reimbursement, financial and statistical reporting functions company wide.

This position is also charged with the direct supervision of employees within the accounting department.

The Controller is expected to collaborate with senior management to ensure financial success for Mississippi Sports Medicine and its affiliates.

The ideal candidate will be expected to act in accordance with and uphold established policies and accounting procedures.

EXPERIENCE / EDUCATIONAL REQUIREMENTS:

Education & Licensure:

· Bachelor’s Degree in Accounting, Economics, or related field required.

Graduate Degree preferred, though significant related experience may be substituted for graduate degree.

· CPA license preferred

AND

Experience:

· 5 to 8 years management experience in health care accounting required

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:

The essential functions include, but are not limited to, the following:

· Manage and supervise all finance and accounting operations

· Strengthen internal controls by risk assessment and monitoring

· Ensure quality control over financial transactions

· Provide management with information vital to decision making processes

· Provide direction to accounting and coordinate accounting functions with the Business Office

· Implements accounting recommendations made by CFO and monitors performance to ensure fiscal goals are fulfilled

· Assists CFO in development of short/long term range operations plan which may include service demand, resources availability, and cost benefit analyses of proposed capital and staff expansions

· Coordinates activities with external auditors

· Collaborates in the development of short/long term range operation budgets based on company plans and objectives

· Suggest budget modifications when necessary and assist with departmental budgets and changes

· Manage local and affiliated budget processes

· Monitor business performance metrics

· Monitors, interprets, and analyzes company financial performance.

Identify undesirable financial trends and potential business opportunities for success and communicates such information to CFO and executive members.

· Directs the preparation of internal financial reports including annual financial audit.

· Responsible for direction and timely submission of financial data and reports required by government and other regulating agencies; including but not limited to payroll tax, public disclosure, and third-party payor cost reports.

· Assures timely and accurate preparation and delivery of reports.

· Regulatory reporting coordination

· Assumes an active role in analyzing and exploring means of reducing company operating costs and increasing revenues based on his/her knowledge of market trends, financial reporting, and operating procedures.

· Responsible for direction of the monthly accounting close in and ensures accuracy and timely submission of all associated month-end financial duties.

· Responsible for managing the physician owner’s production model and ensuring the integrity and accuracy of the process

· Collaborate with the Revenue Cycle Manager in all financial areas

· Demonstrates knowledge of and remains current on Medicare reimbursement.

· Proficient in advanced excel spreadsheets, PC, and mainframes.
