Chief Finance & Operating Officer

Non Profit Organization

This is a Full-time position in Atlanta, GA posted November 29, 2021.

As a key member of Braven leadership team, the Chief Finance & Operating Officer (CFOO) will report directly to the CEO and play a critical role in the overall strategic management of the organization.

The CFOO will dive deeply into financial modeling and forecasting in order to provide senior leaders with the sound financial guidance needed to make key strategic decisions while also thinking innovatively about Bravens future investment strategy and product pricing strategy in service to Bravens ambitious growth plan
– poised to grow from $16M to $56M over the next five years.

Additionally, the CFOO will serve as a coach and manager to the leaders overseeing Bravens Human Assets, Operations & Real Estate, IT, & Legal workstreams.

As Braven embarks upon their next chapter, the CFOO will serve as a driver of cross-functional collaboration ensuring that all operational decisions are supported by sound financial insights.

This is an ideal opportunity for a proven strategic finance leader who excels at coaching and managing others to apply their skills towards leveling the professional playing field for young people in our country.

Responsibilities include, but are not limited to:

Strategic Financial Leadership

-In partnership with CEO and Board, establish strategic financial goals providing a strategic framework for resource allocation and achievement

-Lead a multi-year financial planning process to support Bravens financial growth and health

-Conduct rigorous business model analysis; forecasting costs related to different strategic choices and overseeing the development of budgets for new projects

-Provide oversight for Bravens investment portfolio and work in collaboration with CEO and Board to establish and uphold sound investment policies

-Develop pricing strategy for existing and new innovation products

-Provide leadership, coaching, and guidance to Finance Director and Senior Accountant

Organizational Leadership

-Serve as a member of Bravens leadership team, helping to set organizational strategy, mentoring staff, and providing organizational oversight

-Provide financial thought partnership and guidance to other senior leaders across the organization as it relates to key financial implications of their respective workstreams

-Serve as the primary liaison to the Board of Directors; conducts a thorough review of the annual budget with the Board to review key assumptions and targeted outcomes in order to gain Board approval

People Management & Operational Leadership

-Lead, manage and develop a cross-functional team consisting of ~4 direct reports; working across all infrastructure areas, including Finance, IT, Operations & Real Estate, and Human Assets to ensure Braven is well positioned to evolve and grow as an organization

-Recognize and anticipate opportunities and challenges as they relate to finance and operations systems; generating ideas, strategies, and solutions to drive great organization-wide collaboration and impact

-Play a leadership role in stewarding people management practices deeply embedded in diversity, equity, inclusion and belonging values; is adept at working and managing across lines of difference and approaches conversations about DEIB with thought and care

-Oversee security and risk management strategies including commercial insurance coverage and the related operational policy decisions to protect the existing organization and board

-Lead negotiations and manage ongoing relationships with outside vendors including but not limited to: bank credit agreements, cash management and investment management, external auditors, investment bankers, outside counsel, and insurance broker

This might be the right next role for you if you have:

-10+ years of experience overseeing and executing in accounting and strategic finance either as a CFO or senior financial advisor in a well-managed company/organization

-5+ years of experience managing diverse teams to ambitious goals

-Experience helping a growing organization build finance systems, expertise, and controls over time

-Proven experience managing budgets of commensurate size and complexity and related financing and cash management techniques

-Analytical as well as forward-thinking finance skills with significant experience using forecasting budgeting models

-Experience leading financial investment strategies and/or product pricing strategies (highly preferred

-Proven ability to work well with senior executives, leveraging strong intellectual, conceptual and analytical skills

-Strong communications skills in written, oral, and presentation contexts; ability to clearly, confidently, and convincingly present analyses and recommendations around major financial decisions

-Ability to work collaboratively and communicate complex financial concepts with people of varying degrees of financial skills and knowledge
